CURRENT OUTLOOK AND IDEAS
5/27/25
1. S&P 500 index (SPX)
We continue to believe that the 4835 low is the low for 2025.
SPX has reclaimed the rising 200-day moving average as well as the 50-day moving average and the 50- day moving average has turned up. These are bullish trend signals.
SPX gained 23% in 6 weeks off the April 7 lows, in a historic rally. Some type of consolidation, in the 2-5% range after this would not be uncommon. A standard pullback range would be 5848-5670. SPX already pulled back 3.3% over the past week.
We believe that pullbacks in uptrends are/will be buyable.
2. Three watch points/risks:
– We want to see no major setbacks in the tariff news cycle, esp. with China.
– No breakouts in 10-year UST bond yields, over 4.80, currently 4.50%.
– No major slowdown in the economy and/or labor markets. We do not see that in the data currently.
Top ranked ideas:
Palantir Technologies (PLTR)
- I have highlighted PLTR on my last 3 appearances as well, from $101.
- This remains my top-ranked AI stock.
- PLTR is trading over 5 rising daily MAs, in a bullish uptrend, just below new highs.
- They are the dominant players in big data/AI with many high value government contracts.
- This company has a very wide moat with few competitors at their level.
Tesla (TSLA)
- I highlighted TSLA on 4/28, at $280.
- TSLA is trading over 5 daily MAs, with a recent bullish reclaim of the rising 200-day MA. The 50-day MA has turned up as well, both are bullish trend signals.
- $300 was a key breakout level for TSLA.
- Their EV business has been slow, but TL has major ventures in AI, autonomous vehicles, robotics and energy storage.
- Elon Musk has returned to TSLA full-time, from his Government duties and investors have had a bullish reaction to this.
CrowdStrike (CRWD)
- CRWD was my features idea on 2/6/25, at $416.
- CRWD is our top ranked cybersecurity idea and is it breaking out to new highs this morning.
- In a bullish uptrend over 5 rising daily MAs.
- CRWD is breaking out from a 6-week price consolidation on a bullish chart.
- Earnings are due June 3, which can lead to wide trading ranges.
Nvidia (NVDA)
- NVDA is a recovery potential idea, that recently reclaimed the 200-day MA on May 13.
- Earnings are due after the close today, so we would want to see the stock close higher on Thursday.
- Forward guidance will be a key factor that investors will focus on.
- NVDA remains the global leader in AI related GPU processors.
- DeepSeek news on 1/27 led to a downtrend in semis and many AI stocks, but the recent UAE AI commitment’s may have jumpstarted the large cap semis group.
GE Vernova (GEV)
- GEV is a leader in power generation and alternative energy, with ventures in nucleal, wind and the power grid.
- Spun off from GE in 2024 and breaking out to new all-time highs in a long-term uptrend.
- GEV is an AI data-center play, as datacenters use massive amounts of power.
- GEV should benefit from the orders that President Trump signed on Friday to accelerate the construction of nuclear power plants.
- This nuclear industry should benefit, and I bullish on this group overall. I can discuss Constellation Energy as well (CEG) if given notice on Weds AM, in the pre-show notes.
Bitcoin (BTC)
- BTC and IBIT are picks on 4/28/25, at BTC 93800/IBIT 53.88
- Bitcoin remains in a bullish uptrend over rising daily MAs and recently made new all-time highs.
- Our next upside target is 125K with pullback support at 100K.

- PM is a top-ranked defensive sector idea which recently broke out to new all-time highs, trading over 5 rising daily MAs.
- PM has an earnings growth rate above the S&P 500 and has a high growth product, ZYN.
- This is a good offset to balance out a high beta growth portfolio.
